In class this morning, I announced that I have changed the “live” requirement to your Basic Play Review assignment. Given public health circumstances to not assemble in large groups, I will allow and encourage you to view a video recording of a live stage play. I realize that your experience will not be the same as the exchange between audience and performers that occurs during a live performance; however, you will still be able to express your ideas in evaluating stage performance. On our Drama Class page, see “Basic Play Review.”
Select a show that you would really like to see live. Make sure there is a recording of it as a live performance.
Where Do I Look?
“Digital Theatre Plus” is one place to find excellent suggestions for titles/shows! Digital Theatre Plus, however, requires a subscription … so try to find a title that interests you through other means.
The BBC website for performing arts may also be a good place to take a look for recordings of performances that interest you, and the BBC usually has a healthy amount of supplementary information to augment your viewing experience.
Your Play Review is not due until mid-May. So, 1., you have time, but 2., don’t wait!
